Gong Meditation Training

Private & Small-Group Training

Learn to work with sound with skill, sensitivity and intention.

An experiential training in the art of gong playing and sound meditation, combining practical technique, attentive listening and the skills needed to create and facilitate your own gong meditations.

Through three progressive modules, you’ll explore the sonic possibilities of the gong, develop your playing technique and learn to shape immersive sound experiences.

Choose between a personalised, one-to-one learning journey and an intimate group training. Both formats offer hands-on practice, guided exploration and opportunities to develop confidence in working with sound.

The 3 Stages of Learning

Listen. Reflect. Integrate.

The three modules of the training follow an ancient approach to learning rooted in the Upanishads: listening, reflecting and integrating knowledge through direct experience.

Module 01

Shravana · Listen

Discover the gong and the foundations of playing.

The first module introduces the foundations of sound and sound healing, exploring how sound can influence our physical and emotional experience and how it can be used to guide the mind into a meditative state.

You’ll learn about the gong’s history, uses, construction and different types and categories, developing an understanding of the instrument and its sonic possibilities.

The practical part of the training introduces the fundamentals of gong playing, with plenty of opportunities for hands-on exploration and experimentation.

By the end of the first module, you’ll have the foundational knowledge and techniques to begin practising and playing the gong independently.

Module 02

Manana · Reflect

Deepen your technique. Develop your own way of playing.

In the second module, you’ll deepen your theoretical understanding of sound and the gong, ask questions and reflect on what you’ve learned so far.

You’ll have plenty of time to practise (after all, an instrument can only be learned by playing!) and refine your technique. We’ll introduce more advanced playing techniques, experiment with rhythm and volume, and explore how to create different sound sequences and experiences. We’ll also bring other instruments into the mix and let our creativity flow.

By the end of the second module, you’ll have developed the skills and confidence to begin sharing your gong playing with family and friends.

Module 03

Nididhyasana · Integrate

Bring everything together. Learn to hold space through sound.

You’ve learned the basics of playing and had time to practise. Now it’s time to blossom!

In the third module, you’ll integrate everything you’ve learned so far, then move beyond technique and begin playing intuitively. You’ll learn how to sequence both a gong bath and a gong puja, bringing together your knowledge, creativity and intuition.

Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to create and facilitate your own gong meditation, receiving individual feedback to support your continued development.

By the end of the third module, you’ll have the foundations and confidence to begin hosting your own gong baths and sound meditation sessions.
