Advance Your Practice — Weekend Intensive

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to do a yoga teacher training, stay in an ashram or completely immerse yourself in yoga? Are you curious about the origins of yoga, its philosophy and the myths? Or maybe you would just like to have a better understanding of yogic postures and learn how to practice them correctly?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this workshop is for you!
For a day and a half, we will dive deep into all things yoga. In asana labs, we will explore yogic postures in detail and learn about their alignment, anatomy and the mechanics. In theoretical parts of the workshop, we will talk about the rich history, philosophy and the mythology of yoga.

Asana Lab
Learn about anatomy, alignment and mechanics of some of the most essential yoga poses which show up in every yoga practice. These fundamental postures are also incredibly complex and are often practiced incorrectly.
In the first lab, our focus will be the sun salutations, chaturanga, chaturanga – upward facing dog transition, jumping from uttanasana to chaturanga and from downward facing dog to uttanasana. You will learn how to flow with ease and transition between the poses safely and effectively. In the second and the third lab, we will explore different pose categories (forward bends, backbends, inversions and arm balances) by looking at one or two archetype poses for each category.

History, Philosophy & Myth
The yogic tradition has ancient origins and includes many diverse practices. In this workshop will we take a systematic approach to get an overview of the yogic history, its philosophy and the myths associated with it.
In the history part (“Roots of yoga”), you will learn about the Vedas, classical yoga, tantra and how yoga found its way to the west. In the “Yogic worldview”, you will discover in an interactive and an engaging way some of the main philosophical concepts of yoga such as liberation, divine play & oneness. One way to make philosophy more accessible is through storytelling and this will be our focus in the “Yoga & myth” – where do yogic stories come from, who are some of the main characters involved and what are they teaching us?
